The seasoned sales professional will lead the company’s business development efforts
Montreal, February 1, 2024 – CarbiCrete has announced the hiring of Richard Lapointe as Vice-President, Business Development.
Lapointe will be responsible for the design and execution of business development strategies, and for customer relationship management, with a particular focus on the creation of strategic partnerships with the AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) community.
A seasoned sales and business development professional, Lapointe brings decades of experience in the concrete and construction materials space to his new role.
Lapointe was previously vice-president of technical sales at Sika, the Swiss multinational specialty chemical company, and most recently, he was Director of Major Construction Projects at Mapei, an Italian company that offers products and systems to the building industry. Over his 30+ year career, he has held various senior sales positions at a number of different concrete-related companies, including Lafarge.

CarbiCrete’s patented process for making concrete products replaces cement in the concrete mix with a steel-making by-product, avoiding cement-related emissions. CarbiCrete products are then cured with carbon dioxide, which is mineralized and permanently removed from the atmosphere. The technology is currently being deployed commercially in Quebec by hardscape manufacturer Patio Drummond.

Lapointe holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from McGill University, as well as an MBA from Université de Sherbrooke.
