Why Us?

Cement production accounts for 8% of the world’s GHG emissions. As the green building market continues to grow, the construction industry is looking for reliable materials that reduce cement use. When compared to cement-based CMUs, CarbiCrete CMUs exhibit equivalent or better mechanical and durability properties. They have the same water absorption properties, but higher compressive strength by up to 30% and display better freeze/thaw resistance. CarbiCrete concrete offers the same or better quality and performance that users expect, but without the emissions associated with cement production.

Lifecycle Assessment

CarbiCrete’s net carbon-negative impact has been validated by a third-party verifier. It starts with a 100% reduction of  carbon dioxide emissions associated with cement production. It drives net negative emissions with the permanent sequestration of carbon dioxide that is mineralized in the product during curing. Even when additional transportation and conversion impacts are considered, CarbiCrete’s full LCA results in net carbon-negative concrete products.

Sales

CarbiCrete works with local concrete makers to produce cement-free CMUs for commercial, residential, and landscaping use. Using steel slag instead of cement makes CarbiCrete an ethical and affordable solution for your project. Incorporating CarbiCrete CMUs can help a project achieve LEED certification or meet other sustainability criteria. Our blocks are currently being produced at Patio Drummond in Quebec, with plans underway to expand production into new markets.

Carbon Credits

CarbiCrete generates and sells high-quality verifiable carbon credits for buyers looking to offset their emissions through the purchased of reductions or removals. When you buy credits form CarbiCrete, your purchase helps produce high-value construction products, the use of which contribute to the decarbonization of the built environment. Carbon that is mineralized in concrete is embedded forever and will never return to the atmosphere. Contact us to learn more.
